After a long delay the BBMP's first of its Signal free corridor work is ready to go.They say that first phase will start with the underpass near Okalipuram. This means that the trains have to take a new route, since the railway bridge will be brought down for time being. The Rajajinagar Corridor, which is a 5 km stretch between Okalipuram and Yeshwanthpur with six underpasses, will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 125 crore.

The six underpasses will come up at Vivekananda College Circle, 10th Cross rajajinagar, Navrang Theatre, Bridge Stone, Navrang Bar and Okalipuram Junction.

The first phase will comprise of the underpasses at 10th Cross ,Okalipuram Junction and vivekananada college. The underpasses are expected to be 31 meters wide. The first phase should be completed with a timespan of 8-10 months.

If this project completes then the traffic moving from majestic towards Yeshwantpur through the Rajkumar Road will be almost signal free. This will also reduce the signals at navrang theatre for people moving on MKK road. Which should ease the congestion on these roads due to Metro work.
